ISPM 15

International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that directly addresses the need to treat wood used to ship products between countries.

Its main purpose is to prevent the spread and international transport of disease and insects that could negatively affect plants or ecosystems.

ISPM 15 affects all wood packaging material like dunnage, pallets and crates requiring that they be either debarked, heat treated or fumigated.

As a mark of compliance all packaging materials under ISPM 15 should be marked with a stamp indication the treating method, the manufacturing country and the number of the certified manufacturer.
